Quebec public health officials are dealing with a growing measles outbreak in the province, with 254 reported cases since the beginning of 2011, according to the latest data.
Most of the measles patients are in the Mauricie and Central Quebec, but 5 cases have been reported in Montreal and 26 in Quebec City.
Health authorities are expected to provide a full update on the situation Monday afternoon, and they are already advising the population that the best tactic against measles is vaccination.
Three-quarters of the measles cases in the latest outbreak are people who have not been vaccinated against the virus.
